The Radioactive
Waste Management Advisory Committee (RWMAC) was established in 1978
to offer independent advice to Ministers on radioactive waste management
issues. Members of the Committee are drawn from a wide range of backgrounds
and specialisms including radioactive waste management, radiological
protection, earth sciences, environmental law & planning, medical
physics and social sciences.
Each year RWMAC undertakes a programme of work commissioned by
Government Ministers, it also responds to consultations on relevant
issues and maintains an active interest in all aspects of radioactive
waste management activities undertaken by UK nuclear site operators
and other users of radioactive materials. All of RWMAC's advice
to Ministers is published, either in individual reports or in the
context of the RWMAC Annual Report.
