FOREIGN SECRETARY MEETS WITH BRAZILIAN COUNTERPART (25/07/05)
The Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, has offered his condolences to Jean-Charles de Menezes' family and the Brazilian Government and people, who was shot by police officers in London on 22 July. He said: 'Sir Ian Blair, the Commissioner of Police in London, has already apologised to the family, to the Brazilian people and to the Brazilian Government for what happened, and I have repeated that and said how deeply I regret what happened last Friday and how very, very sorry I am that it has happened, and I would personally like to take this opportunity to offer my own condolences to Mr Menezes' family and friends and condolences to the Brazilian Government and people.' Mr Straw made his comments after meeting with the Foreign Minister of Brazil, Celso Amorim, on 25 July.

EGYPT BOMB ATTACKS - STATEMENT FROM THE LLOYD FAMILY (25/07/05)
On behalf of the Lloyd family, the Foreign Office issued a statement, on Monday 25 July. The statement read: 'As a family we would like to confirm that we were staying at the Ghazala Gardens Hotel. As a result of one explosion, both our daughters have been hospitalised. One is receiving treatment in the UK; the other will be well enough to return to the UK in the next few days.'

EGYPT: DEEP CONCERN OVER BRITISH VICTIMS (25/07/05)
The British Ambassador to Egypt, Sir Derek Plumbly, confirmed on 25 July that one British national is among the dead following the bombing at the Egyptian resort of Sharm al-Sheikh. A further ten more Britons are likely to have been involved as victims. The Foreign Office has expressed its deep concern and is working together with the Egyptian authorities.
