Launch of Music Night

18th - 22nd July 2006

Launch of Music NightLaunch of Music Night Plymouth’s Royal Citadel, home to 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery, is set to host the outdoor spectacular ‘Music of the Night’ for the eighth time this year.

With explosions, bikes and fast car display the Regiment has recently launched the spectacular show in style.  Music of the Night will once again feature impressive musicianship from the bands of the Royal Artillery and Her Majesty’s Royal Marines.  As well as its unique blend of songs from the shows, dance numbers from a cast of hundreds of local performers and a dramatic firework finale, this year’s packed programme will feature musical favourites like Les Miserables, an action-packed sketch by members of 29 Commando and new material showcasing the city’s talented performers of all ages.

With escalating military commitments each year, 29 Commando makes a huge effort to play host to this outdoor extravaganza at the Royal Citadel on Plymouth Hoe.  Music of the Night is now in production for the 8th time and is still a firm favourite with local audiences and has built up a loyal following from all parts of the country.  All profits raised from the show will benefit local and military charities.  Weekday ticket prices remain the same as the last year and wheelchair users will receive a complimentary ticket for their accompanying carer.

Show director Angela Collins and choir master Rob Young are working alongside this year’s project officer Captain Lee Van Crugten to get the show on the road.  Captain Van Crugten said: ”We are  thrilled we can stage Music of the Night once again as it gets harder and harder to fit in with the Regiment’s busy schedule all over the world.  But, we are totally committed to making it happen this year”.

A booking fee of £1.50 will apply to each ticket sold, with additional online booking charges.
