This new and exciting initiative for young people aged 10–18 years old was designed to find nine Champions to help us spread the word about climate change. Read more about each of the champions below and see a sample of their work (where available). In some cases images and audio have had to be removed for copyright reasons. The champions also talk about what they are doing on our website, using a 'blog'.
Sarah CrudgingtonAge: 12East of England
The 'Children of the Earth' leaflet covers the topics of 'recycling and reusing', 'walking and cycling', 'saving water', 'saving energy' and encourages you to use the energy saving chart attached to keep a track of all your energy usage and make reduction in your usage.
The newspaper gives more in-depth information about climate change: what causes it, its effects on the UK and what you can do to help as well as the results of a survey carried out at her school.

A T-shirt with a flow chart of the effects of climate change on the UK. The causes are on the front of the T-shirt and what we can do to start combatting it are on the back.
Zoheb KhalilAge: 10Yorkshire & Humber
'PL News' focuses on the effects of climate change on the Calder Valley in Yorkshire & Humber and talks about local flooding including an interview with the EA and the significant reduction of water levels in local underground reservoirs. Zoheb conducts interviews with the local flood warden and a member of local action group Treesponsibility, and visits the Alternative Technology Centre at Hebdon Bridge.
Stephanie LynchAge: 16North West
Stephanie's report asks "What is Climate Change? How is it affecting the UK? And what can we do about it?" She explains the greenhouse effect, how our climate is changing and how climate change will affect the North West of Britain. She asks what we're doing and if it's enough. She tells us what we can do to help and where to get more information.
David SaddingtonAge: 13North East
'Save our Country' gives us information regarding climate change. It reminds us that already our climate is changing and the effects that this is having on our daily lives. It warns us of the problems we may face if sea levels rise as predicted and the changes that will happen to our countryside. The newspaper points out that by making changes such as the ones planned by Middlesbrough Football Club, we can all do our bit to tackle climate change. The paper suggests 10 easy ways in which we can all contribute.
Lucy Anne StansfieldAge: 13South West
Report from 2021 describing the effects of rising sea level due to climate change on the region. The report focuses on Woolcombe and specifically how the rising water levels and subsequent collapse of the harbour have affected one particular family.
Jordan StephensAge: 14South East
'The Down to Earth Show' gives us news and general chat about climate change. The show introduces us to climate change and explains what it is, how it has developed and its effects. The DJ answers calls from people phoning in with their views and questions on climate change.
Carri SwannAge: 15East Midlands
'The Soggy State of the Nation' is an astute insight into the youth of today and why the Government doesn't capture their interest. The article tells us that the information needed is out there but that it's offered in such a way that it does not interest teenagers. The article is also available as a web page.
Sofia ZabolotskihAge: 17West Midlands
An animation in which Sofia, her rabbit and other guest presenters give us the facts about climate change. They tell us about the different types of greenhouse gases and how they effect the planet. Sofia also tells us how we can make a difference and how climate change should be incorporated into the national curriculum.
