About us

All about the Home Office

The Home Office is the government department responsible for ensuring we live in a safe, just and tolerant society by putting public protection at the heart of all we do. We are responsible for the police service and the justice system in England and Wales, national security and immigration.

Our work is organised around six key objectives, which contribute to our overriding mission: to build a safe, just and tolerant society.

This section explains how we are working to turn that vision into reality, as well as introducing our department and its many and varied constituent parts.
