Under the umbrella of the National Advisory Service, The National Archives offers a number of services to all custodians of records, including private owners, archivists and anyone with responsibility for caring for archive collections.

Our unique accumulation of information and experience enables us to provide expert and independent advice on a wide range of problems concerning the long-term preservation and use of historical records.

This section contains advice and guidance on all aspects of record keeping; information on our new Framework of Standards and results of surveys looking at archival issues throughout the country.
