The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is the Government's most senior nursing adviser. The CNO has responsibility for delivering the Government's strategy for nursing, Making a Difference, and leads nearly 600,000 nurses, midwives and health visitors and allied health professionals.
The Department of Health commissioned a piece of research during 2006 which has resulted in a report setting out best practice guidance in managing attrition.
Invitation to bid: DH/DfES health led parenting support demonstration sites. PCTs and Local Authorities are invited to make a joint application to become a demonstration site for the DH/DfES health led parenting support programme for at risk families. Additional funding is being provided to test a programme of intensive home visiting delivered by midwives and health visitors. The sites are being set up as part of the social exclusion action plan ‘Reaching Out: An Action Plan on Social Exclusion’ launched in September 2006. Successful applicants will be notified by mid January 2007.
