Party Political Broadcasting Consultation Paper

As part of the drive to engage citizens more fully with the political process DCMS is consulting on the arrangements for Party Political Broadcasting (PPB) in the UK.  We want to make sure the system for Party Political Broadcasting is right for the multi-channel age.

This consultation has now ended. The consultation period was 22 July  to 14 October 2004.

This consultation is in response to the Electoral Commission's report Voting for Change, published in June 2003, and their earlier report on Party Political Broadcasting.  The Commission made a number of recommendations and the consultation seeks views on these as well as alternative ways of better engaging the viewing and listening public.

The consultation provides an opportunity for broadcasters, political parties and the public at large to comment on implementation of the Electoral Commission's recommendations, but also a chance to propose alternative ways of establishing a closer dialogue between political parties and voters.
