Welcome to the Access workstream.

This workstream is to support the Department of Health “Improving Elective Access” initiative. It supports the vision developed by the DH to shape and support implementation of high quality, productive and efficient short-stay elective care in the NHS, with the aim of:
  • laying the foundations for a sustained contribution from short-stay elective care to support delivery of access targets in 2005-2008 and beyond
  • shaping and promoting a vision of short-stay elective care
  • optimising patients’ outcomes and experience
  • developing and embedding leading edge practice
  • contributing to the further development of choice for patients through greater plurality of elective care providers.
