The process of matching jobs to national profiles, or evaluating jobs locally as outlined in the NHS Job Evaluation Handbook, determines in which pay band a post should sit. Job evaluation determines the basic pay of staff and is key to the ongoing operation of the Agenda for Change agreement.. Agenda for Change is now embedded in the HR processes in the NHS. NHS Employers continues to support organisations in operating the job evaluation system, including the maintenance of national job profiles, and providing on-going advice to employers. The job evaluation process is overseen by the NHS Staff Council through the Job Evaluation group (JEG).
