Not many of us would be prepared to don a massive, orange, furry suit on one of the hottest weekends of the year in order to cheer on young sports stars.
That’s what Karen Pash, from Woking, did when she became the Surrey Games ‘Tigger’ and showed her support for the young people competing in the recent Youth Games in Surrey. Despite the temperatures Karen enjoyed her experience as a volunteer mascot. “It’s a fun way to participate in an event that encourages young people to take part in sport and lead healthier lifestyles. I was proud to be involved and to cheer on the competitors.”
The games took place on 18th and 19th June. As Surrey's largest Olympics-style, multi-sports event, the Games are a showcase for Surrey's future young sporting champions. For many, the Games are their first experience of an organised competitive sporting event, and following months of training, it gave them the opportunity to show off their new talents to their parents, friends, coaches and of course Tigger. Karen was one of over 300 volunteers who generously game their time to help make the Games a huge success.
Karen wears slightly different outfits for her job at Woking Borough Council.
