STAGE ONE, TWO AND THREE OF NCGM'S REDEVELOPMENT COMPLETE

Stages 1, fact finding/tenant survy, and 2, basic design layouts, were concluded earlier this year.  Stage 3 was completed this sumer and used th abse case to test the financial and functional viability of our ideas.

This viability testing shows that the redevelopment can deliver a modern Market of an appropriate size, cover initial construction costs and ongoing maintenance, and most importantly, that the Market will be financially viable going forward.

To deliver this we will need private sector involvement to improve the financials and also optimise the design and use of the site.  We will therefore undertake a formal procurement process to select the very best development partner.

To this end we have already started working on stages 4 and 5 (planning concepts and procurement) simultaneously and it is our intention to deliver all of these stages (with full Defra and Government support) and have a private sector partner in place in early 2009 - two years from when we started this project.

A document summarising the key requirements that have been identified for the new Market can be downloaded from our home page.
