About i-LIDS

VBDS provide automated video analysis and event detection and i-LIDS is the Government's benchmark for video-based detection systems (VBDS).  The Government is committed to promoting the development of VBDS to help in policing and counter-terrorist operations.

The datasets

i-LIDS datasets have been developed in partnership with the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (new window). They have been designed to help evaluate the usability of these systems for government use. The datasets will be available to academics and manufacturers for use in their research programmes.

i-LIDS currently consists of a video library of CCTV footage based on four different scenarios:

  • abandoned baggage
  • parked vehicle
  • doorway surveillance
  • sterile zone
