Tomorrow's Climate - Today's Challenge

Take action

The government campaign 'Tomorrow's Climate, Today's Challenge' aims to raise awareness – and improve people's understanding – of climate change.

But taking action to tackle climate change is important too, and there are a number of organisations which can help you make a difference.

The Energy Saving Trust promotes energy efficiency and renewable energy use. Its programmes are especially for homeowners and community organisations. It also provides advice on travel plans and vehicle efficiency for businesses and other groups. On their website, you can also find ten useful tips to reduce the amount of energy you use around your home.

The Carbon Trust works with business to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, which contribute to climate change. It helps businesses capture the commercial opportunities of low-carbon technologies, provides impartial advice and runs funding programmes.

There are also lots of web based resources available on the web including:

The Greener Living part of the Directgov website www.direct.gov.uk/greenerliving which contains the Government's Act on CO2 carbon calculator and a range of other information on how to reduce your carbon footprint.

The Department for Transport website www.dft.gov.uk/ActonCO2 which explains how you can reduce your travel related emissions.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs website www.defra.gov.uk/environment/climatechange which contains lots of information on the causes of climate change, national and international action and other useful information.
