Welcome to our website. This is an important time for Afghanistan and for British engagement here. On 12 December 2007 the British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, set out in a Statement to Parliament the next stage of the United Kingdom’s thinking on Afghanistan, and how Britain could best help the Afghan people build a safe, secure, and prosperous country. It will not be easy. There are many challenges ahead. But, as a friend of Afghanistan, the United Kingdom will continue to work hard to support the nation in its search for a better future.
