CHAD: FOREIGN OFFICE AMENDS TRAVEL ADVICE

The Foreign Office revised its travel advice for Chad on Thursday 31 January. We are now advising against all travel to Chad.


ALGERIA TRAVEL ADVICE

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office revised its travel advice for Algeria on Wednesday 16 January. Due to the continuing threat of terrorist attacks we now advise against all but essential travel to Algiers, in addition to the districts east and south west of the city.

FOREIGN OFFICE AMENDS TRAVEL ADVICE FOR KENYA

We advise against all but essential travel to Kisumu, Kakamega, Kericho, Eldoret, the Kisauni district in Mombasa, and Likoni and Tiwi areas south of Mombasa. We also advise against all but essential travel to the city centre, Uhuru Park, Kibera, Mathare, and Eastleigh areas of Nairobi. The situation in Eldoret is deteriorating rapidly with reports of militia activity.


CHANGE OF HER MAJESTY'S AMBASSADOR TO THE REPUBLIC OF RWANDA

Mr Nicholas Cannon OBE has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Republic of Rwanda in succession to Mr Jeremy Macadie who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Cannon will take up his appointment during January 2008.

HURRICANE FELIX: FOREIGN OFFICE AMENDS TRAVEL ADVICE

The Foreign Office has amended its travel advice on Wednesday 5 September, for Belize as Hurricane Felix continues its path across central America. We have withdrawn our advice against all travel to the coastal areas of Belize and all but essential travel to the rest of the country.
