Islamic Issues Team
The Islamic Issues Team delivers a variety of outreach programmes aimed at, and working with, International and British Muslim communities.
The objective is to work with the broad range and diverse Muslim communities to facilitate platforms for Muslim-led debate, addressing both domestic and international misconceptions about UK foreign policy and explain the realities of being a Muslim in Britain today to an overseas audience.

Working with British Muslims
Our work with British Muslims forms part of the FCO's broader approach to reflect Britain's own diversity and engage with a broad range of Partnerships & Networks in the United Kingdom. The 2001 census counted around 1.6m Muslims in the United Kingdom, about half of whom were born here. The countries of birth of others include from South Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Eastern Europe, demonstrating the diversity of the Muslim community. See our key facts section for more information about British Muslims. In working with British Muslims, the FCO works closely with the Race, Equality, Faith and Cohesion Directorate of the Department for Communities and Local Government.
