The trade unions and professional associations that represent staff in the NHS have commissioned Incomes Data Services (IDS), an independent research organisation, to carry out an online survey of all their members. The findings from this survey will be used to provide evidence to the Pay Review Body for the 2008/2009 pay round which makes recommendations to the Government on the level of pay and pay related terms and conditions for NHS staff. |

The 2nd Annual World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is being held on June 15, 2007. The CDNA welcomes the new two year report being published next week funded by the Department of Health and Comic Relief which will reveal a further examination of the extent of abuse in the UK. |

MHRA alerts nurses over faulty patient hoists
|

Nurses are being warned to double check a certain brand of patient hoists after two patients recently fell from equipment which had been incorrectly assembled. The Medicines and Healthcare devices Regulatory Agency yesterday sent out an alert notice telling staff to check all Invacare Flamingo mobile patient hoists. If the hoist is the original design, nurses can contact Invacare to get a redesigned attachment bar. |

The Queen’s Nursing Institute announced the names of the 13 nurses at its annual conference in London. The reinstatement of the title follows concerns by community nurses, and in particular district nurses, that they were losing their unique identity, as new roles were introduced. |
