Up-to-date information about the development of the children's National Service Framework
The new Children's Plan, published on 12th December, sets out the Government's ambitions for children and young people. It brings together for the first time all policies related to 0 to 19s at a national level. The Plan outlines how the Department for Children, Schools and Familes (DCSF) will work with other Government departments, families, communities and front line staff to improve outcomes and change lives.
The new Child Health & Wellbeing Board recently held its first meeting. The Board has been set up to oversee all Department of Health (DH) and Department of Children, Schools and Families’ (DCSF) programmes which deliver the new Child Health and Wellbeing PSA and implement the Children and Maternity National Service Framework (NSF). It is jointly chaired by DH and DCSF and is made up of Government and external representatives.
The Children's NSF, published on 15 September 2004, sets standards for children's health and social services, and the interface of those services with education. This section is intended to provide information on the development of the NSF.
Transition from children's to adult health services has become an important issue in recent years. Many children and young people now survive into adult life with complex conditions that previously would have been lethal in infancy.
