WELSH LAMB AND BEEF EASIER TO FIND

July 2007

Lamb and beef produced in Wales is honoured with Protected Geographical Indication, which means it is recognised by the European Union as a special regional food of quality. A new logo by Hybu Cig Cymru (HCC, the Meat Promotion Wales agency) will enable visitors to spot this quality produce when they visit hotels, restaurants and inns throughout the country.

HCC aims to raise the profile of Welsh lamb and beef by encouraging farmers, hotels and other food outlets to work more closely together. Look out for the new logo and taste this local produce at hotels such as the Castle Hotel, Conwy, the Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells and The St. Bride’s Hotel in Saundersfoot.   Website: www.hccmpw.org.uk

Press contact: Elin Williams, Meat Promotion Wales (Tel: 01970 625050, e-mail: ewilliams@hccmpw.org.uk).
