We undertake a huge range of scientific and research projects to inform our policies, measure the impact of our initiatives and develop new technologies to help us reduce crime and keep Britain safe from terrorism.

Our diverse portfolio encompasses scientific and research work in:

  • forensic science
  • DNA analysis and the expansion of the database
  • police science and technology
  • animal testing
  • research, development and statistics

The Science and Innovation Strategy 2009-12 outlines how science and technology will be used to help fight crime.
