More vehicles and helicopters will be sent to Afghanistan as part of measures to increase the support for British forces fighting the Taliban, the Prime Minister has announced during a visit to Helmand Province.

Mark Sedwill, UK Ambassador to Afghanistan, spoke to journalists about the latest situation on presidential and provincial council elections in Afghanistan, and answered questions from the public on 26 August.

UK Government spokespeople have today said that Operation PANTHER'S CLAW was successful despite claims of low voter turnout in last week's Afghan elections in the town of Babaji, part of the area secured in the operation.

Mark Sedwill, the UK Ambassador to Afghanistan, answered questions about developments on the Afghan elections. The briefing was live web streamed on 26 August.

The Prime Minister has hailed the efforts of British forces in Afghanistan who helped to ensure the safety of people voting in the presidential elections.
