The Rural Development Programme for England 2007-2013

The EU Commission decision formally approving the Rural Development Programme for England 2007-2013 was issued on 7 December 2007.

Formal approval for the Programme makes it possible to move to full implementation.  The final approved Programme Document is available here: www.defra.gov.uk/rural/rdpe/progdoc.htm and a summary (PDF 337KB) of the Document is available.

Latest news

On 15 July 2009 it was announced that as part of the European Economic Recovery Plan (EERP), the dairy industry and rural broadband in England will benefit from £5.2 million of new European funding.  The funds will be equally split between the dairy industry and rural broadband infrastructure, and will be delivered by the RDAs. The RDAs will also be able to  award grants at a higher aid intensity rate where actions address the CAP Health-Check ‘new challenges’, (climate change, renewable energy, water management, biodiversity and dairy sector restructuring).

Regional Implementation Plans

Regional Implementation Plans (RIPs) set out how the RDPE will be used in each of the England regions. The content of the plans inform the content of the detailed England Programme Document.

State Aids

Funding under the Rural Development Programme for England will be required to respect the EU state aids rules. Further guidance on the relationship between EU state aid rules and Axes 1, 3 and 4 of the Rural Development Regulation. (PDF)
