The Regeneration and Strategic Planning Service in Havering covers: economic, environmental and community regeneration; planning and transport policy; Town Centre Management; business support, workforce development and Adult Education; and External Funding. It is within the Sustainable Communities Directorate one of four directorates in the London Borough of Havering.

The creation of 6,000 new homes, 10,000 jobs and major visitor attractions at London Riverside such as Rainham village and Rainham conservation park and marshes are the main aims of the local council in working with the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation.
