Welcome to the collection of objects which underpin the RAF Museum. The whole collection comprises several hundred thousands of objects ranging in size from aircraft to lapel badges, and spanning more than a century of aviation history.
RAF Museum London has a world-class collection and display of aircraft in several exciting and interactive exhibitions. Our film & sound collection has some seven million feet of film dating from the pioneering days of aviation to the present day and the photograph collection contains about 250,000 images.
Our fine art collection is arguably the best collection of military aviation artwork in the UK and represents the people, aircraft, equipment and 'Service Life' of the RAF. Our medal collection encompasses all orders, decorations and medals and compliments our uniform collection, which is particularly strong on the First and Second World Wars. Also based in London are our extensive archive and library.
RAF Museum Cosford tells the story of man's successes and failures in flying and missile development from the early days of aviation through two world wars to the present day.
It houses one of the largest aviation collections in the UK and one of the world's most comprehensive missile collections. You can examine more than forty different aeroplane engines, from the rotary used in early biplanes, to the jet engine which powers the modern Eurofighter. There is also a small collection of motor vehicles associated with both civil and military aircraft support.
We are constantly updating our online exhibitions which reflect areas of interest to our researchers and curators. These exhibitions are exclusively available online.
We have a number of discrete exhibitions in our main galleries which have been created to highlight particular areas of service life. We also have a number of temporary exhibitions at each site. Visit our exhibitions pages to find out about these exhibitions at each site.
