NHS LifeCheck is a free online service to help people assess their lifestyle and make healthier choices. The NHS LifeCheck programme is based upon a commitment in the 2006 Government White Paper ‘Our Health, Our Care, Our Say’ to initially develop three NHS LifeChecks for babies, adolescent and mid-life. Since then the Department of Health has been working with partners including health and social care professionals, academic researchers, stakeholders, experts and the public to develop these three NHS LifeChecks.
The NHS Baby LifeCheck is for parents and carers with babies 5-8 months old. It is based on the Department of Health’s ‘Birth to five’ publication and provides current information and useful advice about what parents can do to help keep their baby healthy, happy and safe. The service has been developed by the Department of Health in consultation with doctors, parents, carers, nurses, midwives and health visitors.
The NHS Teen LifeCheck is a quick, easy and fun online quiz for young people between 12-15 that explores a range of health and well-being issues in one accessible place. It empowers young people to take greater control of their health by:
Young people have been involved in the development of NHS Teen LifeCheck at every stage.
The NHS MidLifeCheck is an online self-assessment for people aged 40+. It focuses on lifestyle factors including smoking, healthy eating, alcohol use, physical activity and emotional well-being. NHS MidLifeCheck analyses the information people provide and then presents them with results and advice.
The service identifies causes for concern and helps people plan for lifestyle change, giving ideas, information and support. Users can set personal goals and sign up for free motivational messages via email, text or post.
