Skilled for Health (SfH) is the first national programme that embeds the essential skills development of Skills for Life with health improvement.
The programme uses health as a motivator to engage traditionally disadvantaged communities in learning and aims to empower service users to become more proactive in managing their health and in making healthcare decisions. Skilled for Health aims to address both the low-level skills and health inequalities prevalent within hard to reach communities and has trialled delivery of health specific learning materials in different learner group settings.
These grids outline the abilities associated with the various Skills for Life levels in both numeracy and literacy. They also illustrate how Skills for Life fits in with the National Curriculum.
