The Tobacco Advisory Group of the Royal College of Physicians has launched a new report looking at the effects of passive smoking on children. The report, with a foreword by the Chief Medical Officer, proposes a number of recommendations to reduce the burden of passive smoking on children, a burden that is entirely avoidable.
Sir Liam Donaldson says:
'I very much welcome this report, which clearly sets out the danger to children from exposure to secondhand smoke. This is a serious health concern, one that I have highlighted a number of times, and the report makes a valuable contribution to the evidence on the harms of passive smoking'.
The Annual Report addresses the benefits of physical activity, preparation for cold weather to reduce health risks, treatment for rare diseases, grandparenting and health, and the link between climate change and health.
From 1 March, frontline doctors, patients and all those involved by revalidation can take part in this major consultation to help shape the process.
Sir Liam Donaldson said:
'This consultation is an opportunity for all doctors to have their say in how the process will work - I would encourage as many as possible to take part.'
