PARTNERSHIPS

Significant partners in the development and delivery of library services include:

1. Higher education and further education organisations.
2. Independent health libraries which provide specialist services to NHS staff.
3. NHS library services which help keep patients informed by assisting services such as PALS, as well as supporting public libraries in accessing and using health information.
4. Local libraries which will continue to liaise with their local NHS education and training departments to ensure that the library and information service is an integral and recognised part of the resource for local work based learning.

Partnerships with relevant agencies maximise the capacity of:

• All librarians working in health libraries, HE, third sector and the NHS who are fundamental to the management of documentation and knowledge.
• Communities of Practice, which link knowledge to the needs of users, notably through the National Specialist Libraries.
• Digital resources and delivery mechanisms, using principles of enterprise architecture to enhance services and offer new service opportunities.
