The Government of Wales Act 2006 enabled the Welsh Assembly Government to bring forward its own programme of legislation. This legislative programme is made up of:
- Assembly Measures
- Legislative Competence Orders.
We also have the following additional legislative vehicles enabling us to take forward policies:
- Subordinate Legislation
- Transfer of Functions Orders
- UK Parliamentary Bills.
Legislation put forward by the Welsh Assembly Government is subject to scrutiny and approval by the National Assembly for Wales. Currently the National Assembly doesn't have full law making powers, however the All Wales Convention is preparing the ground for a possible referendum on full law making powers for Wales.
