Equalities Impact Assessment

English Heritage is now operating a full Equalities Impact Assessment system. This means we have a set of procedures and guidelines in place to ensure that we give full consideration of the impact of our policies, plans and activities on groups protected by law. Impact Assessments also requires us to fully consult and involve protected groups of people who may be negatively affected. English Heritage believes Impact Assessment can be used to really make a difference to excluded groups, and as such has decided to use it for the following six areas:

Memory Block workshop with Ashanti Caribbean Youth Photographer: James Davies, English Heritage • Black and Minority Ethnic
• Disabled
• Gender
• Age
• Religion and Belief
• Sexual Orientation

This means that staff at English Heritage will now seek advice and opinions from an increasingly diverse group of people, and consider their needs as a regular part of our planning, which will allow us to begin to make heritage truly inclusive for all.
