Professional development
New for 2010 - Online professional development: using archives in the classroom
We are creating a professional development unit, as part of the Historical Association's eCPD (electronic Continuing Professional Development) programme.
Using videos, online resources and articles we will share our approach to creating exciting enquiries based on archive documents. Structured activities will lead you through the process of extending your work with evidence; finding intriguing source material (online or at our Kew site), devising investigations for your students and setting creative tasks.
There will be sections on working with your local archives to develop a local history unit, creating independent enquiries for students and using sources in new outline studies. You will have the chance to take part in live eCPD sessions in our virtual classroom, sharing your experiences with colleagues from across the country.
You can see the existing eCPD modules on the Historical Association's website.
If you have worked with local archives to create an enquiry and would be interested in contributing to the development of this unit we would love to hear from you. Please contact Katharine Lindsell, Professional Development Project Manager at The National Archives.
