Oneplace looks at how well local public
services such as councils, health bodies, police forces, fire and
rescue services and the voluntary and community sector are working
together to meet the needs of the people they serve.
This is the first time such a report has
examined how well public services are working together in
Cornwall.
The report brings together inspections from
the main local services watchdogs including the Audit Commission,
the Care Quality Commission, Ofsted and Her Majesty’s Inspectorates
of Constabulary, Prisons and Probation.
Oneplace uses coloured flags to identify areas
of outstanding practice and areas that need attention. Green
flags show exceptional performance, with red flags highlighting an
area of underperformance where urgent improvement is
needed.
Cornwall has received one green flag for its
work in improving skills and education in the county through the
partnership between the Combined Universities for Cornwall,
colleges and the Council which, the report says, has transformed
higher and further education.
Cornwall has two red flags – one for
safeguarding children and young people’s well being and children
looked after by the Council and, and one for the shortage of
affordable housing and the decent home performance in private
rented stock.
