Welcome to the
UK Film Council

The UK Film Council is the Government backed lead agency for film in the UK ensuring that the economic, cultural and educational aspects of film are effectively represented at home and abroad.

Statement on future funding for film

Ed Vaizey, the Minister for Culture, announces his department's plans for where public funding for UK film will sit in light of the Government's decision back in July to abolish the UK Film Council.

The Government has decided to make the British Film Institute the Lottery distributor for film in the UK, while inward investment work will transfer to Film London in a public/private industry partnership.
