81 year old woman assaulted in a home raid

The woman was assaulted after a break in to her home in Hawick. Police have launched an investigation. [11 October 2010]

The pensioner heard a noise coming form her living room whilst she was lying in bed at 0545 BST on Friday. A man then came into her room and demanded money before pushing her to the floor leaving her with minor injuries.

Police are appealing to anyone within the Millpath area to come forward with any information. He was described as 18 to 20 years old, 6ft tall, with dark hair, a "skinny" build and a drawn, gaunt face. He was wearing dark clothing.
