Film training

We have delegated £6.5 million of our Lottery grant to Skillset - the Sector Skills Council for the Audio Visual Industries (broadcast, film, video, interactive media and photo imaging).

Calling The Shots

Skillset is now our partner on skills development and training in film. Skillset are responsible for all new training awards.

'A Bigger Future'

In 2003 Skillset and the UK Film Council launched 'A Bigger Future' – the first comprehensive training strategy for the British film industry. Over five years, measures worth around £50m in total are being rolled out to help build a bigger and better future for the UK film industry.

Skillset Film Skills Fund

The Skillset Film Skills Fund offers training grants as part of the 'A Bigger Future' strategy. Funds are available to:

  • Individuals, companies and training providers who want to complete or offer film-specific vocational training
  • Film industry professionals who need financial support to attend or run a training course
