If your business is involved with certain foods or processes, there may be rules you need to follow.
Premises working with certain types of food that might pose a significant risk to consumers require approval, and may be subject to different monitoring requirements.
In other areas it might be important to know where a product came from, and the rules help to ensure traceability.

List of approved establishments in the UK
EU Member States' competent authorities must give approval to establishments handling, preparing or producing products of animal origin for which requirements are laid down in Regulation (EC) 853/2004. Member States are required to publish lists of these establishments under sixteen separate sections each corresponding to a different food sector.
Natural mineral waters
With the help of local authorities, the Food Standards Agency compiles a list of natural mineral waters recognised by the UK.
Wine standards
The Agency aims to ensure that EU wine regulations are enforced in the UK. It also maintains the UK Vineyards Register.
Animal feed approval
European Commission (EC) Regulation 183/2005 on Feed Hygiene requires feed businesses that manufacture, market or use certain additives and products for animal feed to be approved and/or registered.
Herbal products
In the UK, herbal products are either foods or medicines.
