In depth
- Achieve a more commercially-minded FCO and lead that thinking across government. Work with domestic departments to promote the British economy and to lobby for British business overseas and inward investment into the UK;
- Re-energise key bilateral relationships;
- With UKBA, control migration to secure the UK’s borders and to promote the UK’s prosperity;
- Improve the global economic environment and advance UK interests through trade agreements, improved market access, sound intellectual property regimes, an effective G20, international development and poverty alleviation and the strengthening of our energy and wider resource security;
- Drive international action to tackle climate change;
- Work with other Government Departments to advance Britain’s interests and prosperity by proactive engagement on key internal EU priorities;
