Occupational map for the HE sector


Though the sector is well represented by organisations concerned with workforce development, the Sector Skills Agreements for the nations highlighted a series of skills development areas that the higher education sector prioritised for us to take forward.

UK Wide

The purpose of this work is to provide evidence to underpin future work that the sector may want us to undertake, such as detailed labour market analysis, development of National Occupational Standards and vocational qualifications.


The occupational map provides a concise overview of the sector, describing not only the job roles and occupations found but also the key trends and drivers for change. The map also provides key characteristics of employment and emerging job roles.
