Health Statistics Quarterly

Health Statistics Quarterly (HSQ) is the ONS's flagship health journal, publishing official statistics and in-depth analysis on health and vital events.

About the journal

  • A peer-reviewed scientific journal with an enviable reputation for articles that combine subject expertise and methodological rigour with an accessible style
  • Immediate relevance to UK health and social policy
  • Produced with political impartiality and independently of government
  • New editions published in February, May, August and November

HSQ brings together statistical charts and tables, commentary, analytical articles, and the latest National Statistics-based information on health-related topics including causes of death, childhood mortality, cancer incidence and survival.

In early 2010 it became one of the first ONS journals to appear exclusively online. This move will allow us to reach a wider audience and bring many new opportunities to develop and enhance the journal while retaining its quality and values.
