Official Veterinarians

Official Veterinarian is the term used to describe private practice veterinarians who perform work on behalf of an EU member state. Previously OVs were commonly referred to as Local Veterinary Inspectors (LVIs), but this term is inadequate in describing the role performed or status held. The work performed by Official Veterinarians is normally of a statutory nature (i.e. is required by law) and is often undertaken at public expense.

These pages contain information for Official Veterinarians, including links to training and guidance to assist OVs in performing their official duties.
