Regenerative Medicine

In this podcast we learn about the prospects for regenerative medicine - a new approach to the treatment of illnesses caused by damaged or diseased tissues or organs. Earlier this year the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) invited leading UK researchers in this field to showcase their work at a parliamentary seminar.

The podcast features Lord Drayson, Minister of State for Science and Innovation, who talks about the potential for UK research in regenerative medicine. Dr Chandy Nath from POST interviews researchers working on areas ranging from spinal repair, to developing cures for blindness and repairing difficult wounds using skin cells. She also discusses the ethical issues arising from research in this area.

This recording is 25 minutes long.
